Pura Vida!

It all started by almost not getting on the plane.  I booked my ticked with my married name (we have been married for three years) and my passport has never been changed.  I brought a copy of our marriage license thinking that would be enough to get onto the plane.  I was wrong.  Long story short, seven people spent two hours sitting in the lobby of the airport while me and Omar both kept calling the airline customer service until we finally got someone that would change my name.  I checked in with literally three minutes to spare.  Needless to say, as soon as we got through security, we all had a much needed shot of tequila!

We planned a trip to Mal Pais / Santa Teresa, Costa Rica!  It was a long 4 hour journey from the San Jose airport (1.5 hour drive, 1.5 hour ferry, followed by another 1 hour drive).  But it was so worth it!  And the traveling so exciting!  We practically sank the rental car in a river (thank God for full coverage).  Scary at the time, but has made for a great story!

The house we stayed at was Casa Makasi.  An absolutely gorgeous 4 bedroom house up on a hill.  The road going up felt like an Indiana Jones ride.  By day two the boys had downloaded the theme song and played it every time!

We went Zip Lining in Montezuma and got to jump off rocks into the water, ate, drank, took a day trip to Tortuga Island, ate, drank, attempted surfing, oh and did I mention… we ate and drank.  The food and cocktails were absolutely amazing!  I have never been a fan of mojitos but I am now.  We ate at The Bakery every day for breakfast.  It was the best food I’ve ever had!  And their Iced Coffee is blended… with ice cream.  YUM!  We tried different spots each day for lunch and dinner.  Every place was incredible!

The weather was beautiful during the day and then stormed at night.  A little scary when the electricity shut off but we got used to it.  We stayed for 6 days which I think was the perfect amount of time to enjoy everything we wanted to do.  I would definitely go back!
